Other Professional and Consulting Activities

SaskJam '90, 1990.

I prepared a schedule for 150 patrols to participate in their choice of 26 events in 13 event periods for the Saskatchewan Provincial Jamboree. This involved a number of loading and satisfaction projections and five sets of tentative program schedules. The task was complicated by small event loading capacities and a number of rules for relationships between events requiring a high degree of human interaction with computer software due to the computational complexity of attempting to do fully automated scheduling. This involved approximately 200 hours of work in each of the 1989-90 and 1990-91 academic years, primarily done outside normal working hours. This activity was in preparation for SaskJam '90 which was held July, 1990.

Knowledge Engineering Program,1988-1989.

At the Knowledge Science Institute, Department of Computer Science, University of Calgary, I supervised an individual performing a half-time research project in the Knowledge Engineering Program which was a Government of Canada Job Development Program.

Ukrainian Canadian Committee - Saskatchewan Provincial Council, 1985.

Developed successful grant application to Sask. Trust for $25,500 to computerize the operations of the UCC Saskatchewan Provincial Council. Completed systems analysis and design for the system.

University of Saskatchewan Bookstore, 1983-84.

Involvement included recommending computer reference books and conducting a one day seminar for Bookstore staff and management on the types, contents, and audiences of computer reference books.

Society of Management Accountants RIA Program, 1983.

Involvement with the RIA program included marking a question on each of two national examinations for the RIA Accounting Information Systems course and performing rereads of summer national examination for the RIA Accounting Information Systems Course.

Alberta Heritage, 1983.

Performed computerization of data records and analysis of data for "Survey of Ukrainian Community Halls in Alberta".
